Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, or just looking for a romantic night out, Seattle and Tacoma have many romantic restaurants to choose from. In no particular order, below are some recommendations for some of the most romantic restaurants in Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma.

Top Cupcake Spots | Valentine's Day 2012 Events

1. Il Bistro

Type of cuisine: Italian
Why it’s romantic: Il Bistro strives to embody the very meaning of romantic dining, and has been voted Most Romantic Restaurant by everyone from “Seattle Weekly” to “Seattle Magazine.” The restaurant is tucked beneath Pike Place; the lighting is pleasantly lowered, creating a warm ambiance; and the food is delicious. Bonus—there’s a very reasonable (and delicious) happy hour menu daily from 5 until 6:30 p.m., Sunday – Thursday from 10 p.m. to midnight, and 11 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Reservations: Recommended. Call 206-682-3049 or reserve a table online.
Location: 93A Pike Street, Seattle, WA 98101

2. Rover’s

Type of cuisine: Northwest ingredients with French technique
Why it’s romantic: French cuisine, a wine list and knowledgeable wine experts that are happy to escort you through your wine adventure, elegant-yet-cozy décor—how could you expect anything less than romance? The menu allows you to order a la carte or a tasting lineup called a Degustation.
Reservations: Call 206-325-7442 or at Rover’s website. There are only 17 tables at the restaurant so reservations are recommended.
Location: 2808 E Madison Street, Seattle, WA 98112

3. The Pink Door

Type of cuisine: Italian-American
Why it’s romantic: The restaurant is marked only by a vaguely pink door and no sign to offer an edge of exclusive coolness. Inside has a quirky, slightly circus charm—think trapeze artists, occasional burlesque dancers, cabaret acts, and other always free live entertainment (except their burlesque shows that do have a cover). During the warmer months, the outdoor patio seating is a wonderful place to watch the sunset over the water.
Reservations: Walk-in seating is available in the lounge and often in the restaurant. Book reservations online or call 206-443-3241.
Location: 1919 Post Alley, Seattle, WA 98101

4. Serafina

Type of cuisine: Italian
Why it’s romantic: Serafina’s atmosphere is warm and inviting, pleasantly decorated, but casual. It’s all about comfort here and this is an easy place to open up on a first date or reinvigorate a long-term relationship with a night out. White table cloths, exposed-brick walls, and an adorable patio area don’t hurt either.
Reservations: Recommended. Call 206-323-0807 or schedule online.
Location: 2043 Eastlake Avenue E, Seattle, WA 98102

5. Sky City

Type of cuisine: American with an emphasis on Northwest ingredients.
Why it’s romantic: Yes, the Space Needle is the symbol of everything touristy, but the fact is that you really can’t beat the view at SkyCity. The restaurant is located at the top of the Space Needle and slowly rotates throughout your meal so you get to see Seattle and the surrounding mountains, water and hills from every angle. You also get free admission to the Space Needle Observation Deck.
Reservations: Recommended. For holidays or parties larger than four, call 206-905-2100. For parties of four or less, reservations can also be made on SkyCity’s website.
Location: Space Needle, 400 Broad Street, Seattle, WA 98109

6. Indochine

Type of cuisine: Asian fusion with an emphasis on Thai
Why it’s romantic: Indochine is set in an early-1900s brick building. The integration of industrial exposed-brick walls with beautiful hardwood, iron accents with rich red drapes, and a reflecting pond at the center makes for one romantic restaurant. The surroundings are tranquil and relaxing, especially if you go on a quieter weeknight.
Reservations: Walk-ins are often accepted. For reservations, call 253-272-8200 or reserve online.
Location: 1924 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98402

7. Pacific Grill

Type of cuisine: Seafood and Northwest
Why it’s romantic: Pacific Grill is chic with a splash of artsy. Set in a restored historic building, the ceilings stretch to 17 feet high and the walls are still the original brickwork. The décor is modern, creative and punctuated by glowing sealife artwork made by Ayala Serfaty. Their happy hour goes all day long on weekdays so this is also an excellent spot for a lunch date.
Reservations: Call 253-627-3535 or book online.
Location: 1502 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98402

8. Salty’s on Alki

Type of cuisine: Seafood
Why it’s romantic: There’s something about a view that brings out the romantic in us all, and Salty’s Alki Beach location has an unparalleled view of Seattle’s skyline and Elliott Bay. Huge windows line every side of the restaurant. Where many other restaurants on this list are cozy and dark, Salty’s is bright and open. Additionally, the Redondo Beach location in Des Moines is the perfect place to watch the sun set over the Olympics.
Reservations: Call the location’s number (listed below) or book online.
Alki Beach – 1936 Harbor Avenue SW, Seattle, WA 98126 - 206-937-1600

9. Wild Ginger

Type of cuisine: Asian and Pacific Rim
Why it’s romantic: If you prefer a more modern feel with your romance, Wild Ginger’s décor is full of clean lines, neutral colors and zen-appeal. There is also a vegan menu at Wild Ginger, which may be particularly romantic if the man or woman you’re wooing is a vegan.
