Capitol Hill Neighborhood Profile
Capitol Hill is the most densely populated neighborhood in Seattle. The Hill gets busy in the evening with many nightlife and entertainment options. It serves as the center of Seattle's counterculture and gay community, but is by no means an exclusively gay neighborhood such as The Castro in San Francisco.

Equal Rights Washington (ERW) is a statewide political advocacy organization for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community of Washington State. ERW works to end discrimination against LGBT people throughout the state.

State Supreme Court Upholds Ban on Gay Marriage
The Washington State Supreme Court upheld the ban on same-sex marriage on Wednesday, July 26. The case was in response to the 1998 Defense of Marriage Act, which limits marriage to heterosexual couples. In 2004, it was ruled unconstitutional by judges in King and Thurston counties.
