This article is now out of date. Please see this new listing of Seattle's New Year's Eve Parties and Events for 2013!

New Year’s Eve in Seattle can be anything from a raucous night out to family fun, By far, the event that gets the biggest amount of press are the fireworks at the Space Needle—called New Year’s at the Needle—but to enjoy this event, you have to be willing to stand outside in the chilly night air and possibly rain for a while. If you want some fanfare, but want it indoors, look to the area nightclubs—most host parties to ring in the New Year. Many restaurants all up and down the Puget Sound offer special menus, live music or other special events. Even area theatres get into the act. Or look to family-friendly events like Tacoma’s First Night. The options aren't unlimited, but they are beyond plentiful!
